FAQ
How can Viloud help me get my channels on Roku, for example?
We offer the technology to stream on Roku, Amazon, or Apple TV by providing the HLS live signal of the channel and access to an API to get the content data. You’ll need to create and distribute the Apps from your side on these platforms. You can get the HLS live feed of the channel from Tier 3.
Is monetization automatic, or do you need a minimum viewership?
This is something that you will need to discuss and negotiate with your Ad provider.
How is getting monetized on Viloud different from YouTube?
You can monetize the channel through our player by adding a VAST tag provided by an Ad provider. Also, you can monetize the channel through our FAST feature by distributing your channel on FAST platforms like The Roku Channel, Samsung Plus TV, Freecast, etc. FAST is included on Tier 10. We don’t manage the ads.
What happens if I exceed my viewing minutes limit, will I be billed?
If you reach the minutes viewed limit, your channels will eventually be paused. You won’t be billed in any way unless you opt for a pay-as-you-go service once the maximum code limit is reached.
How do streaming minutes work and what if I need more?
Streaming minutes are the sum of the minutes watched by your audience. To increase your usage limits, you will need to get more codes. Once the deal is over, you can contact us to set your account for a pay-as-you-go basis for additional minutes viewed.
Can I use multiple channels and domains on lower tiers?
With Tier 1 you can stream 5 channels. With Tier 2 you can stream 10 channels. And from Tier 3, you can stream unlimited channels. FAST channels serve for Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV for monetization and are available on Tier 10. RTMP input is available for live streaming.
Is the team members feature available?
The team members feature is not available yet. We have plans to include this in the future.
What happens if I exceed the storage limit?
If you exceed the storage limit, you can purchase more storage through a pay-as-you-go model after the deal is over.
How are viewing minutes calculated and reset?
Viewing minutes are calculated as the total viewing time by all viewers. The minutes viewed are reset in each billing cycle based on your subscription date.
Can we put ads without using FAST?
No, you need to get the HLS signal with the SCTE-35 ad markers (with tier 10 plan). For Smart TV screens, you can use an App like Web Video Caster to send the HLS link.
How can I create a customized channel for my business?
You can create a customized channel using Viloud on a Smart TV by accessing the browser of the TV. You can include various types of content and schedule it. Minimal technical expertise is required to set up and maintain the system.
Is GDPR compliance available?
We are not GDPR compliant on the websites created with Viloud. But if you use our video player or the HLS link of the channel on your website, you should be GDPR compliant if your website does.
Can you provide examples of how Viloud can be used?
Many users with physical businesses display pre-programmed channels using Smart TVs. You can also schedule content in advance to ensure your 24/7 channel runs smoothly.
Is it possible to embed the same stream on multiple sites?
Yes, you can embed the same stream on multiple sites by copying the embed code. Audience on these websites will see a list of all channels available in the guide.
